A Green Resolution !

I hate to see a long line of cars with a single person  behind the wheel in every car often a cigarette  dangling and talking  via Bluetooth. This is a normal scenario during peak traffic hours in every city now  a days.

With no sign of  fossil fuel being changed to cleaner fuels in the near future the single most important environmental resolution this year  should  be to conserve by reducing the usage, and this can be achieved by car pooling and using public transport. Imagine when four people get in one car it will reduce the emissions from three other cars.

There are car pooling websites and apps but it works only when people take initiative on their own. So don’t feel shy or insulted when you opt for carpooling . Its often a status symbol to drive ones own car. Owning a car does not mean you have to drive it daily. Just get in a group of like minded people having work destination in the same place and you can help in a big way to curb pollution as well as conserve fuel.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

The problem with Indians is their attitude. They feel they would loose their status once they car pool or use public transport. Take for e.g my neighbor. We stay in the outskirts, and I often take public transport to travel to city. It’s very convenient and easy for me. But when I suggest this to them, they say why should they struggle with the crowd in public trasport?

True Vasudha, since we have been enslaved and oppressed for long many vain habits have become status symbols. Big car and a lone occupant is one of them. But unpredicted and unruly ways in which public transports work also act as a fuel to fire of status conscious people. A fuel efficient vehicle with pollution under check and fully occupied should be encouraged by all the organizations with incentives for employees following it.

Nice, I think the odd-even rule in Delhi is a great start in that front. The bla bla car is a nice initiative which allows car pooling and can be put to good use in India..
